Step inside a breathtaking Colorado house nestled in the San Juan Mountains

Veritas Fine Homes has designed this exceptional house that combines modern design with mountain charm, perched on the side of a mountain in Durango, Colorado. This dwelling was created as a retreat for its visionary owners, both seasoned residential and multifamily building professionals from Washington, DC. Situated against iconic local mountain bike trails, the home offers stunning southern-facing views and expansive decks, both private and public, that stretch dramatically over a ravine.

The owner’s creative touch shines throughout, as she curated every interior detail and finish, transforming the home into a personal masterpiece. Among the home’s hidden treasures is a private speakeasy lounge, discreetly concealed behind a bookcase. Inside, you will find a bourbon bar, cigar exhaust fan, and an inviting fireplace that create a sophisticated and intimate escape.

On the third level, a secret playroom is tucked behind a repurposed wardrobe, perfect for younger family members and playful guests. This adds a touch of whimsy to the sophisticated design.

Function meets form in the oversized garage, designed to house a Sprinter van, two daily drivers, and a dream bike workshop with storage galore. Authentic hardwood floors and a standing seam metal roof, prepped for a green roof above the private office, complement the home’s eco-conscious and fire-resistant exterior of Nichiha fiber cement siding and metal panels.

With its thoughtful design and luxurious touches, this home is as much a retreat as it is a celebration of mountain living. It’s a testament to the owners’ expertise, creativity, and passion for creating spaces that inspire and endure.
