Lauren Crocco Architecture, in collaboration with interior designer Heidi Caillier, has crafted a new family home on a 13-acre ranch in southwest Colorado that feels as though it has stood for generations. This 5,000-square-foot residence was thoughtfully designed around the site’s mature trees and waterways.
Early in the design process, the owners expressed a desire for a timeless equestrian feel for their pastoral site rather than the pervasive Western aesthetic found in the region. Internally, living spaces are visually cohesive yet distinct, with expansive views of the San Juan Mountains beyond.

What began as a renovation of the original 1970s farmhouse ultimately gave way to an entirely new build, a decision driven by both architectural challenges and a growing family. Yet the goal remained the same: to create a home that felt deeply rooted rather than newly placed on the land. Materials with patina, like reclaimed limestone floors, were thoughtfully chosen to lend the residence a sense of history, while layered interiors draw from antiques, bespoke textiles, and vintage finds to give each space a character that feels personal and enduring.
The Entry & Mudroom

What We Love About This Home
This stunning Colorado mountain home is a testament to the power of thoughtful collaboration and patience. What began as a renovation of a 1970s farmhouse ultimately evolved into an entirely new residence, one that defies its age at every turn. Rather than defaulting to the expected Western aesthetic so common in the region, the project team worked closely with the owners to create something far more personal and enduring. From the reclaimed limestone floors to the layered antiques and carefully chosen textiles, every detail feels collected over a lifetime rather than curated all at once. Overall, we love every single detail of this remarkable family home.
