The many precedents of beautiful local Spanish architecture were the source of inspiration for this California coastal house reimagined by Tucker & Marks. Working with a team of talented local craftspeople, the team reworked the entire house for a better flow of rooms and ample guest space, adding arches, wood beams, and wrought-iron details, as well as a glazed rear façade.
Everything had to be approachable; the designer wanted to evoke a feeling that was more collected than decorated, electing to accomplish this with a cross-cultural assemblage of furniture, textural fabrics, and one-of-a-kind accessories, including some outstanding vintage pieces from the sixties and seventies. This waterfront property is all about beach life, and it’s meant to be welcoming to bare feet and bathing suits.

Since the homeowners are avid surfers who have an affinity for the natural environment, the designer drew inspiration from the landscape for the color palette. A California coastal palette is comprised of blue skies, gray foggy days, the hues of the ocean, the sandy beach, and a variety of beautiful foliage.
