Buchanan Construction is responsible for the whole house remodel of this historical 1913 alpine farmhouse, nestled in the quaint North Carolina mountain town of Little Switzerland, just an hour north of Asheville. The scope of this project included a kitchen and bath remodel, a whole-home remodel, and exterior renovations. This complete, meticulous reconstruction harmoniously blends its original charm with modern comforts.
Every detail, from replicated door trim to reclaimed mantles, reflects a commitment to authenticity and its rich heritage. The result is a seamless fusion of old and new—where original features like solid wood doors, brass hardware, and hardwood floors are integral elements, complemented by contemporary conveniences such as updated appliances, energy-efficient systems, and exceptional tilework.
SPECIFICATIONS
3,800 square feet of living space with three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. Project Cost: $1,600,000

The architects meticulously replicated the front porch railing and columns, along with sections of the front porch ceiling and all door trim, to ensure they matched the originals, combat the effects of rot, and maintain authenticity.
