This organic modern farmhouse in Encinitas, California, is where timeless design meets relaxed seaside living. Dagan Design & Construction, in collaboration with architect Eric Olsen Design and interior designer Studio Mcgee, has transformed this 3,200-square-foot residence plus guest house into a stunning Mediterranean-coastal retreat perched on a California plateau with panoramic canyon and ocean views.
Known as the Crestview Canyon Home, the project was a full gut remodel of the main house along with a guest house addition, with the goal of making the two structures flow as seamlessly as possible. On the exterior, black stain was applied to the board and batten siding, complemented by a beautiful stone facade, black windows, and steel window systems.
Reclaimed wood headers on the window and door openings add rich texture that carries throughout the interior. Andersen E-Series windows and patio doors with raw oak interiors were selected to match the wood ceilings and floors, capture the expansive views, and withstand the saltwater sea breeze. What We Love About This Home
We love the effortless way this Encinitas home blends traditional coastal charm with modern California living, from the navy kitchen with its dramatic dark marble backsplash and brass pot filler, to the white oak ceilings and custom breakfast nook that make every room feel warm and considered. The stone water feature, mature olive trees, and drought-tolerant Mediterranean landscaping create curb appeal that feels like it belongs to the California coastline itself. And the infinity pool with its sweeping panoramic views of the canyon and distant mountains is simply breathtaking, the kind of outdoor space that makes you never want to leave.

Above: The remodel entailed reimagining the exterior facade, adding black stain, beautiful stonework, and black windows. The porch area was a new addition to the home, which includes a hanging daybed and a dutch door,

Entryway

Above: Originally, there was no designated entryway for this organic modern farmhouse, so the designer created one on the wall right behind the door. It features a vintage console table that perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the house. Tip: You don’t need four walls to create an inviting entry space; you just need to find an area for a console and a mirror that you can use as a drop zone, preferably next to the door.
