This spectacular waterfront house designed by Syndicate Smith is nestled along Deer Harbor, a town on the southwest side of beautiful Orcas Island, in Washington State. Constructed in a contemporary, yet distinctly Pacific Northwest style, this family home is idyllically set just steps away from the Salish Sea.

This dwelling was constructed to coexist harmoniously with its surroundings, where thoughtful attention was given to the existing trees, solar exposure, and views from the house. Encompassing 5,700 square feet of living space, this elegant and sophisticated home was positioned on a high bank to maximize views of the waterfront.

“There are many several hurdles involved when building a modern custom home, but try adding the word “Island” to the list,” states the builder. The project team worked together to meet the challenges of constructing this home on an island. They also took great pride in all the creative solutions needed to complete this incredible island refuge in just under 12 months to meet the homeowner’s deadline.

What We Love: This waterfront house on Orcas Island was positioned on its site to take advantage of the views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Nestled amongst the madrona trees, the idyllic property is perfect for entertaining with its lush gardens, large patio, and a lap pool. The interior layout is open and spacious, providing a wonderful indoor-outdoor connection for a relaxed living environment. We are especially loving the “treehouse” guest suite, elevated to soak in the views.
