W O V E N Architecture and Design have created this amazing midcentury modern house set on a hillside with views of St Mary Lake in British Columbia, Canada. This modern cabin provides a getaway for a couple that resides in Vancouver who desired a simple and modern structure to escape from their chaotic city life.
This 1,604 square-foot dwelling takes the form of an elongated rectangular structure, with a gently sloping metal shed roof and exterior wood deck spanning a small ravine. Positioned below an access road above, the dwelling harmonizes with the terrain, to make it feel unobtrusive and purposeful.
A glass entryway divides the rectangular layout, framing lake, and ocean views, along with a covered outdoor area lit by a skylight. On one side, a private guest suite caters to guests, while the opposite side offers access to living spaces, an office, and the master bedroom. A lengthy deck parallels the house, reaching over a gully and connecting to all rooms through expansive sliding doors.
