This dreamy beach house retreat was designed by Moser Design Group, located on Bald Head Island, in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This barrier island is only accessible by boat and is the perfect getaway for those looking to relax and unwind from an unplugged lifestyle. You can explore this beautiful island by bike, boat, or golf cart, as no cars are allowed on the island.
This coastal getaway was conceived as a Southern Living Idea House featuring inviting porches resting on sand dunes or beneath a maritime forest canopy. When designing this home, the architect wanted to integrate it into the landscape to appear as if it had always been there. The interiors were styled to nod to the locale, comfortable and airy with a playful beach-chic vibe. Continue below for the floorplans. The construction drawings for this Bald Head Island beach house are available for sale here.

What We Love: This coastal getaway home was inspired by the natural surrounding beauty of the landscape and the homes in the community. Expansive porches and long overhangs on both the front and back of the property not only help to protect from the elements but offer relaxing spaces for the owners and their guests. Overall, we are loving every detail of this charming coastal cottage, from the splashes of color to the casual atmosphere.

Accessories include the resin turtle shells from Hayneedle. The vanity is custom, with an Absolute Black granite countertop and a hand-hammered brass sink from Nantucket Sinks USA.

Above: In the kitchen, the 4- by 8-foot island has plenty of circulation for cooking and gathering. There is an opening in the ceiling for heat to rise through to the second level and cut down on energy costs. The blush-colored light fixture is the Vivienne Lantern from Coleen & Company, accented by a pair of Hicks pendants over the island. The custom cabinetry is by Wellborn Cabinet. The island is painted in Dormer Brown SW 7521 – Sherwin-Williams. The countertops are quartz.

Above: In the bathroom, a round mirror from CB2 hangs in front of the window. The designer hot glued rope around the mirror to give it a nautical vibe. The mirror is hung from a pulley. A similar mirror can be found at Target.
Above: A sleeping porch is the perfect spot to enjoy seasonal weather without the bugs.
Above: The exterior facade is a mix of James Hardie products: HardiePanel vertical siding, HardieTrim boards, and Artisan lap siding. The products appear like classic wood siding but are actually just a fiber-cement composite and will stand up to the coastal humidity. The roof is a low-maintenance aluminum. If you are looking for a similar palette, try Gray Screen SW 7071 – Sherwin-Williams and Pure White SW 7005 – Sherwin-Williams. The backyard firepit is from Belgard Hardscapes.
