DK Studio in collaboration with Amity + Kett Design has created this beautiful traditional home with Northeast turn-of-the-century architectural elements in San Antonio, Texas. With its attractive white brick exterior, this 3,400 square foot dwelling meets the lifestyle needs of a family to comfortably live and grow.
The design of the new house includes four bedrooms, one office, a living room, dining room, a large central kitchen, scullery, laundry/mudroom, a stylish office, upstairs children’s playroom, and a three-car garage, including the design of built-in cabinets throughout.
Design challenges encountered with this project included working with a flood plain encroachment on the property as well as situating the house appropriately in relation to the street and everyday use of the site.
The design solution was to site the home to the east of the property, to allow easy vehicle access, views of the site, and minimal tree disturbance while accommodating the flood plain accordingly.
What We Love: This gorgeous traditional style home provides a Texas family with open and airy spaces to gather and play. Surrounded by a woodsy setting, this white brick home has stunning curb appeal that draws you inside. Large windows in the main living spaces frames views of the welcoming, nature-filled backyard. We are especially loving the chef’s kitchen with its island banquette seating.
