This mountain cabin in the south of Poland was designed by HOLA Design Group, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of mountains, green forests, and meadows. Known as Shepherd’s Cottage, the cabin is nestled on Lake Czorsztyn, which surprises with its shape and mixture of modernity and tradition.

This architecture and interior design project received numerous awards, including the prestigious Red Dot Award, the A’Design Awards, and was shortlisted at the International Design & Architecture Awards, along with the WAN Awards.

Shepherd’s Cottage is a highlander cottage-style house situated on the shore of Czorsztyn Lake with an exceptional view of the medieval castles in Czorsztyn and Niedzica. The building blends in perfectly with the nearby picturesque landscape and was built with respect for local tradition. This tradition includes the wooden door, which is decorated with ornament. This ornament is repeated on the interior doors, stairs, and furnishings.

Both the shape of the house and its interior stand behind a unique interpretation of the traditional architecture of southern Poland. The roof and facade of the building are covered with aspen chips, while the wooden front door is decorated with an ornament referring to local art.

The whole design is a collage of motifs of the past interspersed with modern, current trends and solutions, characterized by open spaces and large areas of glass.

The architects also provided an abundance of natural light in the attic. In addition to windows in the gable walls, FAKRO FTP-V roof windows with a higher pivot axis were installed in the roof. The space can be ventilated, natural light enters the interior and the skylights offer a view of the incredible panorama of the ever-changing surroundings.

I agree with reader below, absolutely magnificent. I love the contrast in light wood tone and black. I especially love all the lighting and would love to know the sources.
