This modern farmhouse was designed by Nest Designs + Build in collaboration with Axiom Homes, located in Coeur d’Alene, a city in northwest Idaho. For this project, the team wanted to keep with the traditional lines of a farmhouse, yet with a modern twist. They incorporated metal accents throughout the home.
Modern garage doors and black framed windows can be found throughout while keeping things traditional with the red brick and front door. Inside the dwelling, they wanted it to have a more eclectic feel and incorporated modern, farmhouse, industrial, and rustic touches. The home truly envelopes you from the minute you step inside. There is a total of 3,203 square feet of living space with four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. Continue below for the rest of this beautiful Idaho farmhouse tour…
Above: For the garage, the designer wanted it to be very rustic to play off the more modern aesthetic of the house. The paint color is
Red Barn SW 7591 – Sherwin-Williams, complemented by a bright white trim. The barn doors were made by a local craftsman.
Above: For the front door of this Idaho farmhouse, the designer selected a dutch door to keep the traditional farmhouse feel going. The top of the dutch door can be opened while keeping the kids and dog in the house.
Above: In the entryway, they selected a hand-molded brick product. It is glazed in a gray and then whitewashed. It is laid out in a herringbone pattern for visual interest. The interior color is Functional Gray SW 7024 – Sherwin Williams.
What We Love: This farmhouse-style dwelling in Idaho offers warm and inviting living spaces for family living and entertaining. We are loving the neutral color palette, creating a relaxed vibe throughout the interiors. There are so many inspiring details in this home, from the welcoming dutch door in the entryway to the rollup garage door in the dining room that provides a wonderful indoor-outdoor living environment.

Above: The ceiling fan is a 72″ Quorum Windmill Ceiling fan in galvanized metal.
Above: The living room is kept open and airy. The large fan adds visual interest while all of the furnishings remained neutral. The wall paint color is Functional Gray SW 7024 – Sherwin Williams. The fireplace was covered in American Clay to give it the appearance of concrete. Custom benches are made out of reclaimed barn wood that flanks either side of the fireplace. The TV is on a mount that can be pulled out from the wall and swivel.
Above: The laminate flooring is from TAS laminate. It is mixed widths in the Bentley line and the color is Smoke.
Above: Double barn doors were added to the entry of the house. They were made by a local craftsman.
Above: Since the kitchen is open to the rest of the house the designer opted to keep it light and bright to tie in with the rest of the interiors. White inset cabinetry is topped with quartz countertops with a 2” edge profile. There are two sets of drawer dishwashers, 36″ DCS range, DCS oven, and microwave and Fisher and Paykel fridge.
Above: Since the dining room is an extension of the kitchen and living room, the design team opted to add a garage door. This makes for easy indoor/outdoor living.
Above: In the office, a large table doubles as a desk as well as a craft area for the kids. The wallpaper is from Joanna Gaines line and is a blueprint of the Silos.
Above: In the girl’s bedroom, the designer wanted to keep the space feeling young but make it so it can transition with her. The wallpaper is from Joanna Gaines wallpaper line.
Above: The boy’s bedroom was designed to be very rustic and fun.
Above: The kids bathroom was designed to be fun. A Kohler School house sink has double faucets. The First Aid kid was picked up from a junk store. The gray patterned hexagon tile on the back wall of the bathroom was added for visual interest without being overwhelming.
Above: The primary bathroom has the same cabinetry as the kitchen. The vanity is roughly 10 feet long with double sinks and a center hutch. The flooring has a large white hexagon and a large patterned hexagon that is bordered with gray linen-looking tile.
Above: The primary bedroom’s closet features custom organizers made by Closet Systems in Spokane, WA. A stacking washer and dryer provide convenience.
Above: In the laundry room, the flooring is the same tile as the entryway. The dog wash has a resin floor pan and gray ceramic tiles laid in a brick pattern.
Above: Upstairs above the garage is a bonus room. This area is used as a secondary living room as well as a playroom/game room for the kids.
Above: An additional bedroom and bathroom above the garage accommodate a frequent rotation of out-of-town guests. The guest bathroom was designed with a light and airy palette since it gets the least amount of light in the home.
Above: In the powder room, a free-standing sink and single pendant keep the space simple.
