This unique contemporary home was designed by Brandon Architects along with builder Pinnacle Custom Homes. The residence is located in the picturesque neighborhood of Cliffhaven, in Newport Beach, California. The homeowners vision for this project was clean, contemporary lines and an exposed structure. According to the architects, the clients selected this site “because it afforded an opportunity to construct a large basement without requiring the expense of shoring the neighboring properties.”
This 6,500 square foot home is spread out over two levels, which includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a finished basement. The basement level consists of 1,800 square feet, while the first level is 2,400 square feet and the second level is 2,300 square feet. The garage consists of 840 square feet. Only natural stone was used for this project. The exterior facade is clad in a Texas limestone veneer with a split face. The entry walkway features a bluestone slab.
Interesting Fact: All of the media, lighting, security, etc. is housed in a devoted closet that is controlled via tablet and phone apps.
“An expansive open living area is central to the home including a great room, eat-in kitchen, and dining room. Five sets of large sliding glass pocket doors are placed around the living area bringing an unprecedented amount of indoor/outdoor living to the core of the home. A two-and-a-half story tower with exposed structural elements and clerestory windows bisect the home, providing even more natural light and ventilation.”
What We Love: The exterior aesthetic showcases a blending of the homeowner’s contemporary tastes with that of the warmth of the more traditional homes surrounding it. The exterior reflects rich, natural materials, while the interior is more contemporary with its glass curtain walls and stainless steel hardware accents… Readers, what elements in this home design stand out to you?
