This modern apartment was designed by Brooklyn-based interiors studio Chango & Co., located in the Flatiron District, a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York. The interiors consist of 3,000 square feet of living space, completely remodeled to adapt to family living in the city (the couple is expecting their first child). The design team took their cue from existing foundation of the apartment, which lacked elements such as crown molding.
The walls were given a fresh coat of white paint, keeping the interiors crisp and clean. Character was preserved in the space from the existing walnut wood flooring. The floor material also helped to serve as a guide for the new color scheme and materials palette. The home features custom designed furnishings, comprised of reclaimed wood, leather and steel. Textural fabrics were used for added warmth, in neutral hues—with gradations of white, ivory and gray.
By layering textural elements and infusing rustic nuances into the design scheme, the designer was able to keep the home from feeling cold. The goal was to create a comfortable family atmosphere and a haven from the hustle and bustle of city living. The apartment had been renovated seven years prior, but it was in need of some fresh updates. The designers had just six weeks to complete the facelift, as the couple’s baby was on its way!
Note: The designers at Chango & Co. were responsible for the interior design, interior architecture, custom millwork and furniture design, AV design and artwork placement for this project.
What We Love: This New York City apartment features clean and refreshing updates throughout the interiors. Custom furnishings helps to add a unique, one-of-a-kind design aesthetic to the home. The crisp white walls creates a gallery effect to the interiors, making the furnishings and accessories be the showpiece of the apartment… Readers, what do you like most about this apartment renovation?

Above: The designers kept the original walnut wood island and Calcutta gold marble countertops. The open layout did receive some cosmetic upgrades, such as refinishing the wood and replacing the sink fittings. The cabinetry was given a fresh coat of white paint and a subway tile backsplash was added.
Additional highlights includes a gray quartz countertop on either side of the range and antiqued-nickel pendant lights suspended over the island. An overall elegant aesthetic was created in this stunning kitchen.
