Canadian architectural studio Mckinley Burkart Architects designed this stunning contemporary residence on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This particular home is one of the architects most aesthetically traditional projects, encompassing 15,000 square feet of sumptuous living space. The dwelling is comprised of pavilions and low bridges and is completely surrounded by water.

The architects worked closely with the landscape architects to create a home this is completely integrated with its site. An aesthetically pleasing feature to the property is a small fountain where water flows and trickles down throughout the site. Meandering under glass bridges and into a koi pond that populates the stream.

“The house implements Asian planning principles of connecting indoor and outdoor space using pavilions and bridges yet brings forth a West Coast, heavy timber aesthetic throughout the whole residence”, states the architects. The entryway into the home takes you down a steep set of concrete steps, over a concrete bridge with water underneath and onto a covered portico. A glass pivoting door welcomes guests inside this striking and architecturally intriguing residence.

What We Love: This spectacular residence is not only fully integrated in its site, but is designed to maximize its mesmerizing water views. With Asian-influenced design and water features all over the property, the home feels very soothing and peaceful… a feeling of Zen. The infinity edge pool seems to spill over the hillside and into the Pacific Ocean. This is a true dream home, complete with nature right at your doorstep.
