This rustic modern home offers peaceful living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains

This rustic modern mountain home was designed by Marsden Architects in collaboration with KTG Design Co., nestled on an idyllic 2-acre site in the Martis Camp neighborhood of Truckee, California. Created for a family of four as a year-round retreat, this home has Western-style flair throughout its interiors. Step inside this charming house to find just 1,198 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, proving small spaces can have a big impact.

The home was designed with a rustic ranch house concept, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that nods to the past while embracing the present. This was achieved by infusing the home with rustic finishes, earthy color palettes, regionally inspired textiles, a blend of vintage furnishings curated from around the world, and custom, one-of-a-kind pieces both inside and out. I appreciate that the home is not overbuilt, even though they have a 2 acre lot. It appears to be a very reasonable size, especially considering the number of McMansions that have taken over Martis Camp.
