Costantino Grandjacquet Architect in collaboration with JamesThomas Interiors, has designed this striking modern getaway home with breathtaking views over the Wasatch Mountains in Park City, Utah. The homeowner, a sophisticated Chicago-area bachelor, requested the project team to build from the ground up. Bringing a fresh, cosmopolitan eye to the design, the client desired a clean, contemporary aesthetic for his year-round vacation home.
The project team created an energy-efficient design whose overall scheme is contemporary yet cozy. The interiors offer spaces for entertaining large groups of guests, minus the expected references to après-ski living.

This home was designed to entertain guests, so an open floor plan was a must. The living, dining room and kitchen are all interconnection — anchored by a sculptural fireplace and floor-to-ceiling views of Park City’s ski slopes.
Above: The contemporary furnishings offer a counterpoint to the rustic stone walls and panoramic views. The homeowner’s incredible art collection inspired the splashes of color throughout the open floor plan.
What We Love: Offering magnificent views of the surrounding Wasatch Mountains, this contemporary home provides an idyllic vacation retreat. Relaxing living spaces with comfortable furnishings, any guest would be delighted to spend time vacationing in this fantastic home. We are especially loving the rustic elements of stone and reclaimed barn wood adding a warm and welcoming feel.

Above: An open-concept kitchen was designed, which allows guests — along with the host — to socialize as meals are being prepared.
Above: It is apparent that this is no ordinary vacation home, and for guests, this sentiment becomes clear at the gorgeous entryway. The use of reclaimed barn wood offers an inviting warmth and a nod to the West. A dramatic chandelier over the front foyer creates a wow-factor, sourced from Willowlamp. Consisting of chain mail, the light fixture casts stunning shadows.
Above: A lower-level game room was built with a masculine touch. The space features a pool table, shuffleboard, fireplace, full bar, and a 64” television — it’s an easy place to settle in. The playful yet comfortable sectional was sourced from Ligne Roset. The space offers plenty of seating to entertain large groups.
Above: The homeowner is of Scottish descent, so small bursts of plaid throughout the interior scheme provide a nod to his heritage while also embracing a Western-style classic.
