Ridgecrest Designs has designed and built this family dream house nestled on a hillside in Sunol, a small rural community in Alameda County, California. This brand-new custom home was designed to appear like it had been on the site for a hundred years. The owners approached Ridgecrest Designs with a set of architect’s house plans, yet they needed a builder to bring their dream home to life.
After reviewing the plans, the builders decided to completely redesign the home, inside and out — resulting in what is now known as the Sunol Homestead. A multitude of details came together to create the perfect blend of traditional Craftsman style with modern amenities. They even commissioned a local stone mason to hand-place each river stone on the exterior of the house – no veneer here.
Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors open to the wrap-around porch, flooding the space with beautiful natural light, while the custom-stained wood floors and trim exude warmth and richness. Every detail of this meticulously designed dwelling reflects a commitment to quality and comfort, creating a haven for those seeking a harmonious blend of refined living and the tranquil serenity of Sunol’s idyllic landscape.
What We Love: This California dream house is nestled in a peaceful rural community where windows are maximized to take advantage of the natural light and scenic views. The builders did a fabulous job of creating warm and welcoming living spaces with a seamless blend of comfort, style, and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. We especially love the exquisite chef’s kitchen with its two-tone cabinetry, dual island, custom hood, and hidden pantry.
