Webber + Studio, Architects, in collaboration with custom builder Risinger Homes, revitalized this midcentury modern house situated in Austin, Texas. This 5,000-square-foot home is nestled in the scenic Mount Bonnell area, which is a prominent point alongside the Lake Austin portion of the Colorado River.

The scope of this project entails the remodeling and addition of a house built in 1962 by the architectural studio Fehr & Granger. Officially established in 1946, F&G was one of the first and possibly most influential mid-century modern architectural firms in Austin. Continue below to see the rest of this spectacular home…

The home was renovated to preserve its best traits while updating them for indoor-outdoor living. The existing zoning and room sequence of the main level was kept intact, yet opened to create a beautiful 80-foot-long living/dining/kitchen/family area. At the rear of the property, a terrace was extended to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.

This was created by designing a continuous limestone floor that extends from indoors to out. Additionally, a floor-to-ceiling, full-width custom window wall reveals and emphasizes the home’s original post and beam construction.
