Kylee Shintaffer Design has created this warm and inviting sanctuary for a Seattle-based resident, nestled on San Juan Island, the second-largest and most inhabited of the San Juan Islands in northwestern Washington. Envisioned as a retreat for gatherings with friends and family, the owner sought a vacation home to enjoy the natural beauty of the San Juan Islands.
Drawing inspiration from the serene textures and hues of the inlet stretching behind the residence, the design immerses inhabitants in a tranquil escape from the urban bustle, inviting relaxation and rejuvenation amidst the island’s coastal charm. What We Love: The design of this San Juan Island home is beautiful, cozy, and inviting. We love the mix of textures throughout the interiors, which gives it such a warm and welcoming feel that’s just perfect for island living. Large windows help to frame the most amazing views of the water while flooding the inside with gorgeous natural light. The seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces enhances the connection with nature, making it so easy to relax and enjoy the island’s tranquil surroundings.
