Centre Sky Architecture together with Montana Custom Build has reimagined this beautiful rustic modern mountain cabin located in the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club, Big Sky, Montana. This dwelling is set within the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club’s Settlement Cabins — part of a development of single-family residential homes that were originally constructed roughly 10 years ago.

The current owners of this cabin wanted to update the cabin to reflect their individuality and family needs. Rustic elements were incorporated throughout, including reclaimed timbers, reclaimed cabinetry, and deco lighting. The interior design also pulls from the rustic elements to balance out modern structural features.

The interior was completely transformed from a traditional mountain cabin into a modern, open living space. It is modernized by adding whitewashed surfaces to give a nice and bright aesthetic.

The original wood beams were kept dark to contrast with the white. New, larger windows provide more natural light while making the space feel larger.

Above: A large window was integrated into the addition, providing ample natural light which was previously missing in the entryway. A bump out on the front of the house provides more room as you enter the house, allowing the family more storage and a larger mudroom.

What We Love: This rustic-modern mountain cabin presents revitalized living spaces tailored to the lifestyle needs of its residents. A meticulous redesign of the interior spaces showcases the owners’ personalities through carefully selected furnishings, accessories, and artwork. The incorporation of expansive windows not only provides sweeping views but also floods the interiors with natural light, imparting a bright and airy ambiance throughout the home.
