Amy Carman Design is responsible for the complete transformation of this gorgeous historic Tudor house that is located in River Hills, Wisconsin. A young family acquired this historic Tudor home, fully aware of the ambitious renovation that lay ahead. While many of the original 1920s-era features and charming elements remained intact, the kitchen and main living areas had suffered from a series of awkward remodels over the years.
To breathe new life into the home, they turned to Amy Carman Design, tasking them with crafting a modern, family-friendly kitchen replete with amenities for cooking and entertaining. The design team’s first step involved reimagining the kitchen’s layout, removing columns, introducing leaded glass windows, and creating spacious openings to seamlessly connect the living room and pantry.
The owners’ adventurous taste in color led to the selection of a deep emerald green hue for the kitchen’s perimeter cabinets and adjoining pantry. A nearby storage closet was cleverly transformed into an elegant pantry and wine room. Clad in brass, the wet bar cabinetry became the focal point, surrounded by the lush foliage of a densely patterned wallcovering, giving the space a jewel box feel.
Drawing inspiration from the owners’ fondness for French design, the designers embraced a French aesthetic when furnishing the living and dining areas, resulting in exquisitely layered spaces reminiscent of a chic Parisian apartment.
What We Love: This historic Tudor house underwent a full-scale renovation to create a timeless home that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
