This gorgeous dream home retreat was designed by Edgens Herzog Architects, located in Lonesome Valley, a residential mountain community in Cashiers, North Carolina. The area is known as Box Canyon, which boasts the tallest wall of sheer granite rock face east of the Mississippi River, about 1,400 vertical feet.

Conceived as two main living areas, this home contains both a lovely great room with dramatic views of Cow Rock through the โ€˜jewel boxโ€™ Dining Room, as well as an open Kitchen and Keeping Area with doors that open wide to incorporate the large screened porch as well.

A beautiful design that exudes warmth and a “real” home feel. Impeccable taste in furnishes and finishes. My favorite room is the kitchen with a full wall of windows to capture the views. I mean, why waste that wall with cabinets. In a house such as this, I am sure there is plenty of space. The slate floor, accented with brick is incredible. The exterior colors are perfect in a natural setting.

I love this house! My big question is how do they keep such a beautiful back porch clean? Pollen, dust, rain will blow in even with deep overhangs. We have a lovely back porch but I’d love to upgrade it to a “living room” with real furniture vs. outdoor items.

I am pretty sure that room has full glass window walls. If you look closely there is some refection in the photos! I was asking myself the same question.
