Craftsman house in Silicon Valley boasts inspiring design ideas

craftsman-style-home-exterior

De Mattei Construction in collaboration with Lauren Nelson Design created this classic Craftsman house built for modern living, located in Los Gatos, California. This two-story home is the 2018 Sunset Idea House, full of inspiring design ideas. Since this home is situated in Silicon Valley, the project team channeled both the region’s creative boldness and its laid-back culture. The builder visioned an open layout that brings in natural light while maximizing indoor-outdoor living spaces.

A sleek approach was brought to interiors of this 2,683 square foot, four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home using a monochromatic color scheme. Drawing on the casual culture of the region, a minimal collection of Scandinavian furnishings and accessories adorns the interior. The result is a mix of innovation and Sunset’s signature Western spirit.

Wide-planked oak wood floors are the Del Mar hardwood flooring from La Maison Nicolas.

This space offers plenty of natural light thanks to VELUX Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylights. Aside from the light they provide, they are also connected to a system that monitors the local weather, measure humidity and CO2 levels in the home. When the interiors need a refresh, the skylight opens. Blinds are automated to control the amount of sun that comes into the home.

I am building a house on the McKenzie River in Oregon and have spent hours trying to figure out what paint colors were used on the exterior and trim. Would you possibly share that with me? Also wondered what roof color was used, it’s hard to see in the picture. Looks like light gray? I think I may use a mottled copper metal roof with bronze front door and similar colored decking. Would appreciate any help you could give me with the exterior colors you used.
