Mid-century modern in LA converted to fabulous pad for entertaining

contemporary-living-room

This mid-century home has undergone a contemporary transformation by designer Jamie Bush in collaboration with Dennis Gibbens Architects, located in the Trousdale Estates, Beverly Hills, California. This sprawling 5,500 square foot home was originally built in the early 1960s. When the new homeowners purchased it, they were looking to create an open, airy and contemporary home for entertaining. They also wished to showcase their evolving collection of modern and contemporary photography. The home is quintessential LA living, from the winding drive up Sunset Boulevard to the driveway gate and soft glow of the entry court.

A glass front entryway gives visitors a glimpse of the deluxe interior beyond. Once you enter into the home, you will flow from the foyer, past screen panels into a sunken living room. Expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows reveals sweeping views over downtown LA below. Luxurious furnishings throughout the home offers plenty of texture and comfort. Notice how everything in the living room is circular? From the the furnishings to the area rug and even the ceiling detail.

The primary goal of the renovation of this Beverly Hills pad was to edit various elements of what had become, over time, an outdated house with some poor additions. According to the designer, “the bones of the house were quirky and meandering, yet encouraging.” Curved and circular elements are repeated throughout, part of the original design. The result is a remodeled design that is both timeless and elegant, offering a forward thinking approach that is not afraid to depart from mid-century principles.

What We Love: This mid-century LA pad has been glamorously made over with sleek, clean lines and attractive furnishings and decor. A neutral color scheme enlivened by various textures allows the artwork to be highlighted. With fabulous 270-degree views over the downtown Los Angeles area, this home seems to have it all!
