This 1,110 square foot loft style apartment was completely renovated by Falken Reynolds Interiors, located in the Crosstown neighborhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Spread out over two levels, this modern pad was design for a couple of young professionals who splits their time between Vancouver and New York.
When the new homeowners purchased this cool pad, they found that it had all the features they desired. This included spectacular city views and an open concept loft and as a bonus, a spacious 500 square foot outdoor patio. However, the interior did not jive well for them. The home was originally a bachelor pad, decorated with mirrors everywhere.
The designers did a gut renovation of the home, planning the design around one of the couple’s main goals. As sports fanatics, they wanted to be able to views the television from various points throughout the home. The couple also loves entertaining, so they wanted their guests to also be able to enjoy the sporting games (one of the homeowners works as a marketing consultant in the sports industry).
The kitchen played a major factor in the design, where a portion of a wall was taken out to help create sightlines. This made the space feel more open and airy. Diners can relax at the kitchen island on bar stools and easily view the game.
What We Love: This loft style apartment features some incredible design features, from the sliding garage door to the soaring ceilings, beautiful light fixtures and fabulous furnishings. The design team did a fantastic job of thinking of every detail and fulfilling the homeowners requests. This home caters to entertaining and watching sports from just about every angle of the main living area. Overall, an incredible loft design… what do you think?
Above: To create the aesthetic of a Brooklyn style loft, the designers used a variety of woods, such as the walnut flooring seen throughout the interiors. Turn of the century touches were brought into the kitchen and powder bathroom of black powder coated metal accents. Additional elements includes industrial shelving in the bedroom office and the subway tiles in the master bathrooms.
Above: A mint-walled breakfast nook was created from what was once a closet and the removal of a shower area from the powder bathroom.
Above: A spectacular double volume automated sliding garage door was already installed in the home. Black window frames infuses industrial nuances into the loft. The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore OC-55 Paper White.
Above: A Bocci 28 chandelier is suspended from the ceiling above the kitchen island, creating an eye-catching focal point to the space. The countertops are comprised of white quartz.
Above: The media room features a comfortable sectional and a black Eames lounge chair and ottoman. Nesting coffee tables were selected to be easily movable if extra guests needed to sit on the floor.
Above: The powder bathroom features the FLOS String Light Round Pendant.
Above: The homeowners requested to have a private workspace that was away from the television, so it was designed in the master bedroom.
Above: In the master bedroom, the walnut bed was sourced from Blu Dot, while the walnut night stand is from Design Within Reach. The area rug from Salari helps to ground the space.
Above: A mid-century style walnut cabinet was custom designed for the master bathroom. Appearing like a piece of furniture, it adds character to the space. The medicine cabinets were also custom designed. The exquisite textured hexagonal floor tiles are in varying shades of dark gray (source: Mutina Tile from Stone Tile in Vancouver).
Overall, the bathroom has an old New York feel. White subway tiles in a matte finish clad the backsplash and glass enclosed walk-in shower. The masculine feel of the bathroom is softened by the 21 Standard light fixtures by Bocci.
Above: On this 500 square foot outdoor patio area you will find a brick-clad fireplace, barbecue and plenty of seating areas for entertaining.
