Clarendon Heights Residence is an original mid-century modern Clarence Mayhew home in San Francisco, California, which has been remodeled by Upscale Construction. The circa 1940 home was a complete remodel of all systems and interior finishes including upgrading the windows, adding solar panels, and integrating a living roof with new exterior plantings and vista terrace with firepit.
Square footage was added to incorporate an existing disconnected basement area. The living and dining rooms were reconfigured to achieve the clients’ wishes to have the primary entertaining spaces open into each other while simultaneously taking full advantage of spectacular city and bay views.
Special features included the custom wood cap at the main stair glass railing stained to match new hardwood flooring, a horizontal fireplace incorporated into the existing living room brick surround and a white quartz backsplash backlit with haunting, muted light at the kitchen stovetop.
