This woodland retreat is a renovation project carried outย by Sullivan + Associates Architectsย in collaboration withย Rentschler & Company Interiors. The home is located inย Edgartown, a town on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. This incredible property is characterized by compact, independent living spaces that are connected by a breezeway and expansive patio. The pair of pagoda-like structures were transformed into functional and stylish living spaces. Outdoor living spaces were also reconfigured to meet this family of four’s needs.
The architects also created a 600 square foot addition, bringing the total living space to 2,200 square feet. For the main house, two dormer windows helps to infuse the living room with natural light. This also helped make the second level feel more spacious. A screened-in porch was added downstairs to extend theย living and dining areas.ย The master bathroom was given a modernized update, with the addition of an outdoor shower. Outside, a built-in propane fire pit serves as a family gathering spot, set between the living spaces.
What We Love: This fabulous woodland retreat features bright and airy living spaces and cozy outdoor spaces designedย for family enjoyment. The concept of this home is perfect for a vacation pad, with a main house and guest house connected by a covered walkway. This helps keeps the spaces separated and private, while still closely connected for social enjoyment.
