An historical foursquare home has been completely renovated, the personal digs of principal interior designer of JL Design, Jessica Davis, located in the Belmont area of Nashville, Tennessee. The designer resides in this whimsical home with her two young sons. Built in 1920, the residence is comprised of 3,520 square feet with six bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. The goal of this historical renovation project was to create a tasteful, yet kid friendly home. Jessica believes that children should be welcomed into every room in the home. This is evident in every space we look in, from the hop scotch area rug and tricycle in the living room to the superman figurine on top of the hutch in the dining room, there is plenty of lively decor everywhere! A playful vibe is also brought in through color selection and textiles, a mix of adult and kid-friendly design that flows perfectly—and effortlessly. The interior details are timeless, with preserved wood flooring that has been refinished in the main living areas and painted in a crisp white in the kitchen.
The cushy ottomans in the living room are so functional, you can use them to rest your fit, sit on them, or easily move them around to create more space. There are a lot of portrait pictures placed throughout, a nice personal touch!
What We Love: As you continue scrolling down you will notice a staircase that leads up to the second level. We love the numbering on the stairs, another touch of whimsy that is aesthetically fun for both adults and kids alike! The master bedroom is also fantastic, there is so much space to move around… and who doesn’t love a fireplace in the bedroom? The support columns are another nice touch, giving the space a lofted feel. Overall a great design and so much fun to tour through. Thank you Hayley for sending us this amazing project! 1 Kindesign readers, what do you think of this tour, do you like the playful touches the designer added into her home?
