A well-designed laundry room should have great storage, be comfortable to work in and help you to facilitate your chores. To create a more functional space, having foldout drying racks or closet rods for hanging fine delicates can be very useful. Versatile storage cabinets, places to store dirty laundry, and easy to hang wall shelving are just a few of the current trends in laundry room storage ideas. Design a Multi-Purpose Laundry Room

If you live in a smaller house, then using your laundry area for multi-purpose activities such as laundry/mudroom, can be an excellent space saver. Since the laundry typically has a sink, it is the perfect spot to not only wash your hands when you come in from outside, but also to bathe your fur kids! You can also use the space to feed your pets and even house a litter box, whether built into the cabinetry or just on the floor. Its a great place to set up a shoe rack for everyday shoes, keep your sporting equipment and some hooks on the wall next to the door for your jackets. If you have space to incorporate a built-in desk, you can use it to sort mail, keep cell phones and your keys (you can also mount an entryway organizer on the wall for a space saver, Etsy has a few great ideas to help you get started, a DIY project in the making!) You could also use your desk as a craft and wrapping area, all you need is the right organization and some shelving units. The key to your design is to brainstorm what your family needs most in this space and be sure it gets added into your room.
