An Idyllic Weekend Retreat Nestled In The Rolling Hills Of Sonoma Wine Country

Wade Design Architects created this striking home in Sonoma, California to provide a weekend retreat for a busy family from San Francisco seeking respite from urban life.

Perched on a picturesque Sonoma Mountain overlook, this getaway was designed to serve as a haven for the family, allowing them to gather, relax, and enjoy the serene wine country terrain from every room.

The home’s front facade warmly embraces guests with elements of East Coast architecture, while the back of the house ties in a California wine country aesthetic, creating a seamless connection between the comfortable interior and its natural surroundings.

The architects helped to transform the homeowner’s vision into the most serene living environment they could have ever imagined. The chandelier in the living room was sourced from Circa Lighting.

In the dining room, the table was custom fabricated by Julian Guintoli Custom Furniture. The pendant lights hanging over the table are by Nickey Kehoe.

This breezy and relaxed sanctuary was created for a family to escape city living and enjoy the rolling hills, vineyards, and lush greenery of the Sonoma Hills.

Most of this stunning dwelling opens to the outdoors, erasing the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The mainly neutral color palette is tactile, warm, and unfussy with pops of color and pattern throughout. We are especially loving the great room of this home — open, airy, and perfect for entertaining.
