This ranch house gets a gorgeous Spanish-inspired makeover in Atherton

Bay Shore Residential Design, along with Fiorella Design has transformed this 1950s ranch house into a beautiful Spanish-inspired living quarters in Atherton, California.

Nestled on a one-acre property, the team began this project thinking it would be a simple renovation. Over several weeks and months, the project expanded to the point where architectural assistance was necessary to bring the design vision to life.

The landscape was completely reworked to complement the indoor-outdoor lifestyle that the homeowners requested.

The exterior facade was updated with a raised gable entry and an extended back roof, allowing for a dramatic row of clerestory windows.

The main living space features a vaulted ceiling reaching up to 20 feet and a sliding patio door that opens the entire space to the back patio.

The kitchen features hand-painted backsplash tiles sourced from Walker Zanger while the island countertop is Dekton — an ultra-compact surface by Cosentino, offering extreme performance and unique design.

The homeowner found antique Spanish doors that were incorporated in both the exterior landscape gate and the custom barn doors to the office.

On the floor of this gorgeous spa-like bathroom, an elaborate tile rug is embedded in the black marble tile. The floating vanity is composed of walnut wood.
