Stunning contemporary home with breathtaking views of the San Juan Mountains

Benchmark Design Studios and Veritas Fine Homes have designed this gorgeous mountain contemporary home nestled on a three-acre property in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in Durango, Colorado.

This 3,500-square-foot dwelling features a blend of materials to complement the surrounding landscape.

The design of this home includes a walk-out basement with a foundation that needed to be supported in the rocky terrain of the site.

The materials included flat rusted siding to bring out the copper veins, Cedar Creek Cascade thin stone veneer that speaks to the surrounding cliffs, Stucco with a finish of Moondust, and rough cedar fine line shiplap for a natural yet minimal siding accent.

The interior of this home features dramatic yet tasteful elements, including exposed raw structural steel, Calacatta Classique Quartz waterfall countertops in the kitchen, hexagon tile designs, and gold trim accents—all the way down to the gold tile grout.

Custom cabinets are topped with Calacatta Classique quartz and satin brass fixtures. Floating glass shelves are mounted over the bar area.

Steel beams support the tall ceilings that run throughout this gorgeous mountain dwelling. There are three fireplaces in this home, one of which is the focal point of this warm and welcoming living room.

Built into the quartz rock beneath the home is a basement that includes two full guest suites and a shared living room that opens to the outdoors.
