Marie Flanigan Interiors has reimagined this older house with a refreshing mix of traditional and modern elements, situated in River Oaks, a leafy residential area of Houston, Texas.

The home was designed for a young family who requested to have gracious living spaces for themselves and their overnight guests who routinely come to visit.

Plenty of texture was added to create inviting spaces through the use of massive reclaimed wood beams in the ceilings to heavily grained wood furnishings, adding a touch of rusticity.

The living room features an antique limestone fireplace from France and a cozy built-in window seat, while wood beams on the ceiling adds a nice rustic touch.

A soothing neutral color palette was incorporated into the design scheme, offering an overall air of lightness. The designer has added layers to the floors, walls, and ceilings with natural, organic textures that create visual interest.

Natural materials of linen and rattan can be seen applied in both spaces, while furnishings gathered for over a decade create a timeless and collected look.
