To create a backyard oasis, there are an abundance of choices you can make to design your outdoor space, including a fire pit focal point. You need to decide whether or not you would like to have one custom-fabricated for you or purchase one already made. Aside from a functional perspective, fire pits can be the central focal point of your design, and your backyard can be tailor-made around it.
Beyond providing much-needed warmth when spending time outdoors in cooler seasons or on chilly nights, fire pits also create a beautiful nighttime ambiance. Below is a fabulous collection of outdoor fire pits that we hope will inspire you to add one to your backyard living space.

1. Cozy Cedar Bench Seating

2. Black Lava Rock Fire Pit
The fire pit walls are made of steel. The cap is made of concrete, and the rock inside is black lava rock covering a 24″ gas fire ring. The patio tiles are poured in place, 6 sac concrete with a sand finish. The main patio is 24″x24,” and the lower portion, surrounded by the rock (black Mexican pebbles), is 20″x20″. 9. Boulder Bench For Seating
A natural stone fire pit features a natural gas line that supplies a stainless steel burner located under the gravel. A keyed valve starts the gas flow, which needs to be manually lit. 11. Create a Concrete Seating Wall
An idyllic outdoor space in Rhode Island features a concrete seating wall (Cambridge Pavingstones Maytrx 6″) surrounding a wood-burning fire pit (Pyzique Fire Pit). The fire pit’s outside diameter is 48″. The circle outside diameter is 14′ 4″. The walls are a total of 20″ deep. The grates on the fire pit are intended for grilling. 13. Add Circular Wicker Furnishings
A 26′ wide by 18′ deep covered porch features circular wicker furnishings surrounding a gas fire pit. Furnishings can be found online at FrontGate or ModernWicker. The fire pit is 5′ 6″ in diameter with a 30″ diameter fire pit opening, providing a nice 18″ wide perimeter for setting dishware.
