Reclaimed barn wood and stone house with picturesque Rocky Mountain views

rustic-western-mountain-home-exterior

Veritas Fine Homes has crafted this rustic, Western mountain house inspired by and designed around its family heirloom Douglas Fir beams in Durango, Colorado.  These timbers came from an industrial building built by the homeowner’s great-grandfather in the Midwest. The astounding Douglas Fir wood featured in this home was harvested in the late 1800s and added to the rustic Western style, balancing masculine tones with natural beauty, heavy textures, and organic warmth.

All finishes are carried in the most natural state possible. The beams were lightly wire brushed and clear coated to show off their centuries of time-tested character. The countertops were leather-finished, and reclaimed barn wood was infused with the cabinets, accent walls, and exterior siding. The integration of natural stone brings the comfort of the natural surroundings both inside and outside this western mountain home.

The expression of iron was also important to the homeowner’s decorative details. To that end, you’ll find splashes of decorative detailing throughout this true Rocky Mountain home.
