LDa Architecture & Interiors has designed this absolutely gorgeous farmhouse for family living, situated in Sudbury, a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. The owner of “Sweet Oaks Farm” is a competitive equestrian who is based primarily in South Florida.

Enlisting the architects for this project, the goal was to create a Northern homestead on a family-owned property to which the family and horses would reside for a few months out of the year to escape the heat and enjoy the charms of summer in New England. The vision was to create a classic shingle-style family farmhouse, updated with modern touches and amenities for a highly relaxing, low-maintenance lifestyle, with views from every room out to the pastures, woods, and barn on the property.

Local materials were employed in the design including fieldstone and weathered wood, layered over a neutral white backdrop and balanced with sophisticated lighting, hardware, and tile. The home is bright, comfortable and rooted in the traditions of its New England location.

What We Love: This shingle-style farmhouse features bright and airy living spaces that frame views of the surrounding pastures and forest. We are especially loving the living room, with its large windows, double-volume ceiling height, exposed wood beams, and striking floor-to-ceiling stone-clad fireplace.

I totally agree – a floor plan for each featured house would really help understand the relationships and flow !

I like that the kitchen is somewhat tucked away from the great room but still a part of it. Beautiful kitchen design and colors. The kitchen island with the extension for bar seating is a nice addition. I wish the back splash was something new, maybe a herringbone pattern, tired of subway tile. The stove top hood is beautiful. I love the muted tones of the home, very soft and lovely. Master bedroom and bath colors are pretty and relaxing. Use of windows and vaulted ceiling makes the home light and airy. Love the wood flooring. I wish a floor… Read more »
