Stunning contemporary home with breathtaking views of the San Juan Mountains

Benchmark Design Studios and Veritas Fine Homes have designed this gorgeous mountain contemporary home nestled on a three-acre property in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in Durango, Colorado. This 3,500-square-foot dwelling features a blend of materials to complement the surrounding landscape.

The design of this home includes a walk-out basement with a foundation that needed to be supported in the rocky terrain of the site. To achieve the optimal homesite, the team had to blast into a quartz geode vein, which served as the inspiration for the classy chic style interior and clever use of exterior materials.

The materials included flat rusted siding to bring out the copper veins, Cedar Creek Cascade thin stone veneer that speaks to the surrounding cliffs, Stucco with a finish of Moondust, and rough cedar fine line shiplap for a natural yet minimal siding accent.
