This spectacular concrete and darkened cedar-clad home was designed by GO’C Studio, located in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Nestled on an elevated peninsula northwest of downtown, the home showcases unparalleled views across Puget Sound and towards downtown Seattle.

The scope of this project entails the construction of a 5,500-square-foot dwelling to replace the existing house that was constructed in the 1920s. The new structure is set atop an existing plateau where the nearly 360-degree views were maximized on each of the levels. A series of terraced gardens and pathways were created to form a dining and pool terrace nestled into the slope.

The program for the house was unique in that it needed to house a large family of two adults and six children. The house is designed to be enjoyed by all members of the family with plenty of living space and access to the many exterior terraces and roof decks – creating a house to gather within was of utmost importance.

From the extensive views of Puget Sound, the music playing, and the six kids that inhabit the house – Sound House became a fitting name.

What We Love: This spectacular cedar-clad home provides an oasis for a large family with an incredible indoor/outdoor connection. A visually striking exterior facade mixes concrete and cedar and opens into a light and airy atmosphere where you will find comfortable yet stylish furnishings. We are especially loving the double-volume living room with its expansive windows that capture the most magnificent views of both the Puget Sound and downtown Seattle.
