This Cape Cod inspired transitional custom home was designed by Brandon Architects and built by Spinnaker Development, located on the Balboa Peninsula, a neighborhood of Newport Beach, Orange County, California. This beautifully designed home features both street and harbor appeal. Set on a unique triangular shaped property, there is plenty of street frontage. Yet towards the back of the property, the site narrows, offering minimal Bay frontage.
The design team has taken full advantage of the street frontage of this home, infusing rich articulation and detail into the exterior facade. They also wanted to make a strong visual impact on the exterior of the minimal bay frontage side. The architects achieved this by integrating an ocular custom glazed window/door system off the master bedroom. The window perfectly frames sweeping views over the harbor.
Highlights to the exterior facade includes: natural cedar shingle siding, a shake roof, elegant white trim and crown. The mix of these materials helps to accentuate the character of this beach house, offering a timeless appeal that will gain more character as it ages. Once inside this home, you will notice the same attention to detail has been applied to the beautiful, light-filled interiors.
What We Love: This Cape Cod inspired beach house is what dreams are made of, with a gorgeous exterior facade, luminous interiors and dreamy water views. The interior design is warm and inviting, yet very clean-lined with an understated elegance. We love how the designer’s took advantage of the water views by creating a large window in the master bedroom. This creates a welcoming oasis at the end of a busy day! The backyard sitting area is equally as appealing, we can imagine spending late afternoons enjoy the sunsets over the water… Readers, what do you think, would you love to live in this beachfront pad?
