This contemporary seaside home was designed by Brett Mickan Interior Design, located in the beach community of Clovelly, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The designer took on the challenge of renovating this contemporary home to give it a high-end aesthetic infused with luxurious details, yet at the same time feel comfortable and casual. Designed for a family, this beach-inspired home features a palette that takes its cue from the surrounding environment; incorporating the natural tones of sandstone and brush as well as ocean blues. The open plan living areas have a harmonious connection with the outdoors, with expansive windows drawing in natural light. Natural elements have been incorporated into the design scheme such as clear oak stained flooring, wool upholstery and silk rugs, add softness to the interior spaces. Walls are painted in a sand hue, creating the perfect backdrop for artwork. Light fixtures casts a warm, welcoming glow against the walls, while furnishings don’t compete with the neutral background. Custom built-ins creates functionality and helps keep family clutter at bay. The finished result is a barefoot casual beach pad for easy living.
