This summer dream house is infused with rustic and modern styling by Greek architects Block722, located on Syros, a Greek island in the Cyclades, in the Aegean Sea. Immersed in the rugged landscape, the properties exterior facade of white and wood matches with the island vernacular. An inviting home that is clean and simple, the homeowners are a couple who entertain guests often during each season. Designed into two blocks, one features the social areas, encompassing the living room, kitchen and guest rooms, and the other hosts the master bedroom of the couple. Each area has its own separate entrance. A holiday home whose design is inspired for relaxation and peace.
The main request by the owners was to maximize the privileged views of the Aegean Sea throughout all spaces of the home. Outside, an infinity pool seems to merge with the sea, with sun loungers on the terrace to enjoy the peaceful views. The architects main objective was to unify all of the spaces under one roof, with continuous views of the ocean without creating a massive volume. This resulted in a rectangle in separate pieces with opening on all sides. Guests have private spaces, yet have continuous access to the pool and all other outdoor spaces. The interiors reflect the magnificent landscape that surrounds, featuring natural materials, stone and wood.
The topography of the landscape defines the garden and outdoor spaces, respecting the varying levels and location of the dwelling. Despite this being a summer retreat, the homeowners still like to enjoy it during the winter months. The living room features a warm and inviting fireplace.
