This luxurious two story residence was recently renovated with minimalist details by interior designer Nicole Hollis, located in Pacific Heights, San Francisco, California. The floor plan of this 2,000 square foot home was reconfigured to meet the needs of the homeowner’s lifestyle. The master bedroom and bathroom were moved to the downstairs level to overlook the garden. The upper floor was then opened up for entertaining purposes. The color scheme was composed of mostly black and white with hints of gray, with the leading principle of if it does not have a purpose, leave it out of the design. The original flooring was replaced with stunning French white oak hardwood planks in an eight inch thickness, which were bleached and stained in a unifying gray. A backdrop of crisp and clean white walls reflects light and helps to highlight the dramatic black wing chairs, classic wood furnishings, black light fixtures, gray upholstery and black and white area rugs. The homeowner has an urban sensibility and spent their childhood abroad, so they wanted their furnishing and materials selections to reflect this. A mix of natural woven textiles, leather, modern appliances and Asian antiques creates a striking harmonious balance in this modern oasis.
