This wonderful countryside holiday home is a refuge for its owners, located next to a nature reserve on the banks of the Cega River in the province of Segovia, Spain. The home is that of photographer Clara Tassara and her husband, who fell in love with this old home which was originally owned by a priest. After purchasing the timeworn home, they had it rebuilt from scratch, preserving the original stone walls. This home is the perfect escape for the couple and their young children who enjoying being in touch with nature when they visit for weekends and holidays. The home offers a large, open plan living room and dining area and spacious bedrooms. The double height ceiling helps to enhance the feeling of spaciousness, keeping the home bright and airy. There is also a kitchen and playroom. The spaces were designed with comfort in mind, yet without losing sight of creating a pleasing aesthetic. Limestone walls in a pinkish hue creates a welcoming appearance. An eclectic mix of styles is seen throughout, with vintage antique furnishings meshed with current and modern pieces, creating a nice dynamic.
Turn of the century pieces inherited from family are amongst the homeowners favorite pieces, but also collected pieces from local antique dealers and Madrid auction houses adds personality to the spaces. A mix of colors in calming hues creates a harmonious atmosphere that draws inspiration form the surrounding landscape. The polished concrete flooring adds charm, while the walls of concrete mixed with limestone adds a traditional finish.
