The Riverhouse is a waterfront home blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living, designed by Gerard Smith Design, located on Mooloolah Island, Queensland, Australia. The house was designed to open out over the Mooloolah River, with a sweeping walkway that leads through the home’s bright and airy minimalist spaces. The property showcases luxury fixtures everywhere you look, including the master bedroom which features a concealed kitchenette and raised bath with expansive views over the water. The spacious interiors perfectly frames sweeping water panoramas from every direction. Awash with natural light, this impeccable home was designed for entertaining and all things water. Not only does the home cater to the needs of the client’s lifestyle, but it also takes advantage of its natural surroundings. With a relaxed coastal ambiance, this property is inspired living at its very finest.
From concept to completion, the home took three years to build, with an understated design that leaves you feeling awe-struck. There is complete harmony that can be witnessed in the use of materials, space and design aesthetics. The designers were tasked with creating a warm family home yet only design with the absolute necessities, while taking advantage of the impressive waterfront site and everything the Sunshine Coast lifestyle has to offer. It seems they did an amazing job, so much so that they received an award as winner of HIA House of the Year over $2M!
