The ultimate in zen luxury living

Along the west coast of the Phuket peninsula sits Villa Yin, a property owned by Laurent and Chantal Broda. Villa Yin boasts 6,500 square feet of indoor space and another 4,650 square feet of balconies, decking and outdoor space. The attention to detail is astounding. Sleek materials such as dark hardwood terracing, marble and granite highlight the unique design statements introduced throughout the property: plate glass vanities and shower screens with pebble and bamboo inclusions, iridescent beaded bathtubs and glass stairways. Design details throughout the spaces fuse bold antiques from 14th and 15th century of Thai Buddhas, and ancient Burmese gongs blended together in harmony with modern luxury works of design. Villa Yin’s five Thai-style pavilions – the entrance, guest, outdoor, main and master pavilions – are all connected by footpaths, but secluded by design. The estate also features a private stairwell from the cliff-edge pool to a natural, shallow swimming enclave in the sea below. The home has many luxurious features such as a state-of-the-art kitchen from Minotti, Italy, a wine cellar, sauna, massage room and home cinema, outdoor dining and chill out area with a 15-meter marble pool  and  expansive entertaining platforms and an 18-meter (60-feet) infinity pool lined with gray marble.

The house is filled with antique Buddhas, Tang Dynasty terra cotta figurines, a huge Phuket-style bronze gong, nine Andy Warhol prints of Marilyn Monroe and scores of works by some of China’s best-known contemporary artists.

MORE INSPIRATION

The villa stands in a lush tropical garden, with the landscaping heavily reworked to introduce traveler’s palms, frangipani trees and tropical flowers but to retain the hillside slope, ensuring all the main rooms have unobstructed views of the sea.
